A-CAPTIC – Alliance of Cold Atmospheric Plasma for the Treatment of Infections and Cancer

Cancer therapy

Cold atmospheric plasmas (CAPs) are a novel treatment modality to fight cancers. Several studies have shown that certain cancer types are especially susceptible towards CAP treatment. We employ cell culture and organotypic model systems to study the effect of CAPs on cellular behaviour. Our aim is to decipher the underlying cellular and tissue-wide mechanism of why certain cancers are susceptible towards treatment, while others are not. We employ a host of different analysis methods including established viability assays, various omics techniques and advances imaging techniques including fluorescence imaging and mass spectrometry-based imaging. Our ultimate goal is to bring CAPs closer to the clinic.
